Projects

I always love having a project, or two or three going on. So, here is what I have been working on lately...

Crocheted hats for my boys. My friend Abby has a great tutorial on these and it is so easy to follow! She breaks it down step by step, I know, she is amazing! Here is the link to her hat tutorial.

Pineapple turkey. I think these are just too cute! My mom made these growing up and I am continuing the tradition. I happened across the pattern online (the exact one my mom uses) when I couldn't get a hold of her to send me hers. So here is the link. Just scroll down to "Pineapple Turkey Centerpiece".

Advent Calendar. Which may or may not be done in time to start on December 1st, but here is to hoping! This is another Abby inspired project. And like the hats, she has done a beautiful tutorial on how to do everything from hand stitching the squares to putting them all together on the tree. Here is the link. I finally finished my squares and I am on to putting them onto the tree. I can't wait for the finished product. I will post a picture when I am all done. Until then take a look at Abby's, she is ahead of me. Having a project is the only way to survive the lonely nights when Tharren is working and he has been on graves this week. Ugh! Tonight is the last one though! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Feast Day

This is Wyatt's preschool class. They had a feast day and did a little skit about the pilgrims coming from England on the Mayflower and the first Thanksgiving with the Indians. Too cute! Wyatt loves singing the songs, he sings them all the time at home too. The little girl next to Wyatt is Emily (Wyatt's "girlfriend") and the cute pilgrim in the middle of the front row is Wyatt's "best friend" Reed. I love that Wyatt's first school experience has been so positive, he absolutely loves it!

They made turkeys out of apples, toothpicks, raisins and olives.

It was so fun to have Tharren go with us! We just love Wyatt's preschool!

All in a Days Work

Put on diving suit....check!
Practice "mad swimming skills" (his words not mine)...check!
Booby trap room...check!
Tie up as many sharks as possible (actually laundry on the couch)...check!
Climb a mountain (tie rope to banister and throw it down to the ground)...check!
Give mom some gray hair...check!
Ahhh, I just love checking off my todo list (like Grammie, like grandson)!

Unfortunately this is the only one I got a picture of.

Oh yeah, and the practicing of the "mad swimming skills", where does he come up with these things?

Random

These past two weeks have been so amazing weather wise. We have had beautiful, WARM (50's and 60's) weather. This is a picture of an amazing sunset the other night. I couldn't get over the bright pink!

I walked into the living room the other day and Wyatt was on the floor gazing out the window. I grabbed my camera and captured it. I just love the look on his sweet face. There are very few times that he even holds still so to come upon this! I just would love to know what was going through his thoughts as he quietly pondered.

I don't usually post pictures of myself but I got my hair done, so rare and thought that when we look back at our blog my children might like to remember me too. I am always behind the camera. So here is a rare picture for the kids.

Halloween!

These cute skeletons had such a blast this year! I was a single mom, again, but we made the best of it. I can't tell you how grateful I am for the friends that we have here. Even when I am husbandless, I feel like I am still with family, I would be lost without them! Thanks again for the yummy food and the trick-or-treating fun!

Weston's first hair cut!

I finally cut his hair. It was a bitter sweet moment. I LOVED his long hair but between the food that was always in it and the bed head, it was a never ending frustration. Besides, I love that you can see the cute shape of his head (can a head shape be cute?) and I think he looks so grown up. I just love this little poopster!

Up North

Tharren had a rare weekend off so we headed North to Mackinaw Island for a few days. I was totally miserable with a cold but took some strong cold medicine and tried not to complain too much. Which Tharren would say I did a terrible job at. It was cold, in the low forties but we bundled up and saw the island and the beach. Aside from freezing, we ate, swam, and read by the fire in our hotel. The kids were happy and it was a fun little get away. I am sure not ready for the winter and I feel like it has already settled in here, it is supposed to snow Friday. Are you kidding me?! Why on earth do we live in this state anyway?! Oh yeah, a little thing called residency, over-rated!!!
